Outline of Hebrews
BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:10
"GLORY" (dignity, honor, praise)
From Greek "Doxa" primarily signifies an opinion, estimate, and hence, the honor resulting from a good opinion
WHERE IS A GLORY OF MAN? (Matt. 6:1, 2)
This glory passes away (1 Pet. 1:24)
THERE IS A GLORY OF GOD WHICH ABIDES FOREVER (2 Cor. 3:18)
This is the glory into which Jesus brings us – dignity, praise and honor from God
THERE WAS A GLORY OF THE LAW (Ex. 34:29-34)
It was to pass away (2 Cor. 3:7, 8)
Israel still reads Old Testament today with the "veil of Moses" on their hearts (2 Cor. 3:12-16)
So do many people today: (a) Veil of Prejudice; pre-judging – going to the Scripture to find support for personal views rather than find truth; (b) Veil of Wishful Thinking – delights in references to love and mercy, but evade wrath and judgment giving an unbalanced picture; (c) Veil of Fragmentary Reading – never read Bible as a unit, but only their favorite passages, hence they never see one truth relation to another
BUT CHRISTIANS HAVE TO REFLECT LIKE MIRRORS THE 'GLORY OF THE LORD'
Not snobbish – but sociable
Not huffy – but long-suffering
Not inconsiderate – but concern for others
Not complainers – but gracious
Not tale-bearers – but tender-hearted
Not ungrateful – but thankful
Not slanderers – but rejoicing
