Outline of Hebrews
CONSIDER HIM
"CONSIDER THE APOSTLE AND HIGH PRIEST OF OUR PROFESSION, CHRIST JESUS" (Heb. 3:1)
"Consider" does not mean simply to look at, but to look, understand and learn!
"Consider the lilies; ravens" (Luke 12:24-30)
If we are ever to learn the truth of Christ, a disinterested and detached glance is not enough; there must be a concentrated searching survey in a determined effort to see its meaning for us.
"Take my yoke upon you and learn of [from RSV] me . . ." (Matt. 11:28-30)
"For consider him who endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds" (Heb. 12:1-3)
"Fainting" and "growing weary" are Greek words used in a vivid manner of an athlete who flings himself to the ground in collapse after he has passed the tape
Not physical weariness, but weariness of mind
How to avoid it: "Consider him"
"Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works" (Heb. 10:24)
