HEAVEN
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15)
The doctors told her the sad news—they had done all they could do. So, they sent her home to die. A 28-year-old young woman—Michele was the mother of two little boys. There were no more happy years ahead—cancer would see to that.
Michele had the most beautiful smile and was kind to everyone. It seemed so unfair. She should be taking those little boys to the park and on picnics. She and Kevin should be taking walks and sharing their hopes for the future. Instead, they planned a funeral.
Trying to help others in their anticipation of grief, and with great spiritual strength, Michelle read these Bible verses over and over:
“For death is the destiny of every man, the living should take this to heart” (Ecclesiastes 7:2).
“Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1).
“But our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so they will be like his glorious body” (Philippians 4:3).
Then she would smile and say, “Death is inevitable. Each of you will face it someday, too. But none of us have to face it alone. Jesus is there to help see us through to the other side. He has prepared a place so wonderful; once we get there we will not want to come back, not even to be with family we love so much.”
Yes, Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. And yes, Jesus has prepared a wonderful place called Heaven and will come again to take us there. It is our responsibility to be prepared when He comes for us. Let us live holy and godly lives as we look forward to the day of God.
