THE LIFE OF CHRIST
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV)
God gave a “person,” then a “proclamation,” and then a “people.”
First, God gave a PERSON, Jesus Christ. He gave us a person and not a creed as the object of our faith and a basis for our salvation. Next, God gave the PROCLAMATION, which centers on the Person (Jesus). Jesus is the content of the message that is preached. Finally, the proclaimed Word calls and gathers a PEOPLE (the church). God gave a Word before He gave a church. The oral message about Jesus gathered a people and so created a church. The church then is a result of and a response to God’s action in Christ. This is both the historical and theological order designed by God.
When you think about and study the Life of Christ, you will put first what God puts first, every day and every step of the way. We must never stray in priority or commitment from God’s design of the Christian ‘to do’ list—put Jesus first. Our precious Lord, Jesus Christ, should always be first in our life, thinking, study, teaching, and preaching.
We should put Jesus first in everything. His life, His mastery as a teacher, and His deity will constantly revive the foundation of our faith. From birth to crucifixion, we need to visit and revisit God’s master plan for redeeming mankind through the God-man, Jesus, the Messiah.
Thinking about Jesus; studying about Jesus; serving and living for Jesus are all labors of love, done to glorify the One who defined love in every action of this life.
Prepare your heart each day by meditating on and receiving the life of the name above all names, the Rose of Sharon, King Jesus. May His name be glorified in your life—today.
