PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
“Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 NKJV)
God does not expect us to stay on our knees in prayer 24/7. What He is referring to in these passages is a condition of the heart. It is possible for us to have a prayerful attitude at all times. This attitude is built upon acknowledging our dependence on God, realizing His presence within us, and determining to obey Him fully, with this attitude we find it natural to pray frequent, spontaneous, short prayers. A prayerful attitude is not a substitute for regular times of prayer, but should be an out-growth of those times.
The Scriptures do not tell us or command us to stand or kneel; what position we should be in to pray. Also, the Scriptures do not tell us to close our eyes, life up our hands, etc. Therefore, we can be driving down the road and pray, just by saying, “Thank You, Lord. I love You, Father. God, please watch over me this day.” And, we can know that God hears and answers all prayers.
