SWEETER AS THE YEARS GO BY
“The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, If it is found in the way of righteousness.” (Proverbs 16:31 NKJV)
Simeon was a righteous and devout man who was longing to go to heaven, but wanted to see the Christ.
Anna, at a great age, spent her widow-hood praising God.
The older a Christian becomes, the more anxious we should be to please God in every day life; in our thoughts, speech, actions, and worship we want to please God.
We may not hear so well, or see so well. We may walk more slowly and have trouble remembering some things. But we should be determined to be in the assembly of the saints and live to glorify God.
Most older Christians are happy and content, because we have learned that happiness is found in Christ as we look forward to our home in heaven.
“I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you” (John 16:22).
We should learn from God’s Word that happiness is not found in pleasure or money, not in position and fame, not even in good health. Happiness results from being a servant of God’s way.
Maybe we have learned to “stop and smell the roses.” We also need to take time to look at the sky. Watching God’s sunset—talking and thinking about the beauty of it, makes me want to slow down, stop and see each and every one.
In our busy lives, let’s take time to teach our children the beauty of God’s wonders and not leave out His beautiful sky.
Thank You for all blessings in Christ Jesus. Please help us to worship You in spirit and in truth. In Christ’s dear name. Amen.
