WORDS OF JESUS

Read these words of Jesus from Matthew and take them into your heart!

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (5:3-10).

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt hath lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted?” (5:13). “Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid” (5:14). “I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell” (5:22).

“I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart” (5:28).

“I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for (the) cause of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery” (5:32).

“But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles” (5:39-41).

“Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven” (6:1).

“Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light” (6:20-22).

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon” (6:24).

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (6:25)

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (7:1-2).
