BENEFITS OF BAPTISM
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5 NKJV)
In the words, “...through the washing of regeneration...” it is pointed out to mankind what are the great benefits of baptism. And, as if further to emphasize that salvation through your own efforts is impossible, you are further told that you are saved, “Not by works of righteousness...” which you have done. Salvation is a gift from God. Completely! Period! Baptism is the means God has provided for all men for entrance into that relationship with Him, wherein alone you may receive His gifts of forgiveness, deliverance from evil, and salvation.
God’s Word offers salvation and admittance into God’s family on only one basis and that is upon the basis of faith (leading to repentance and confession) and baptism. No believer, therefore, should ever neglect or delay acceptance of and personal entrance into this gracious covenant with God whereby he becomes God’s child and heir.
“God spake, my child, God spake to thee:
‘I will thy God and Father be!’
Say thou to Him: ‘O Father mine,
I am Thy child; yes, truly Thine!”
Give thanks this day to Almighty God for His great love and provision for your redemption, and for His gracious covenant with you in baptism.
“...Striving together for the faith of the gospel.” (Philippians 1:27 NKJV).
