COMFORTING WORDS
“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” (2 Cor. 5:1)
What wonderful words of comfort are these from the apostle Paul, that when our earthly bodies become old and/or diseased we as Christians are assured that we will be clothed with a new body—from Heaven.
Of course, we are admonished by Paul in other Scripture (1 Cor. 6:19-20) that our earthly bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and are given by God so it is our duty to treat them with great respect. But having done all we can and doctors having done all they can, then we fly away to be with Jesus and be clothed with our house in the heavens.
To the Christian, this assurance is worth much more than silver, gold, praise of men or earthly fame.
